Smart Plug Promotion

Electricity Invercargill Limited (EIL) and The Power Company Limited (TPCL) are teaming up to promote energy-efficiency practices through a Wi-Fi-enabled Smart Plug Promotion campaign.

PowerNet manages the EIL and TPCL networks, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable electricity is delivered to over 55,200 customers through rural Southland, West Otago, Invercargill City and Bluff.

The EIL and TPCL (owned by the consumers through the Southland Power Trust (SPT) see this as a good opportunity to give back to our community and develop good energy usage practices for all customers in the Southern Region. The Wi-Fi-enabled Smart Plug means you can connect the device to your Wi-Fi internet connection and enjoy the array of benefits it allows:

Efficient energy monitoring
Monitor and understand your energy usage and habits, saving you on your power bills.

Seamless appliance control
Switch your household appliances ON or OFF through your mobile phone, eliminating the energy used when you leave things ON or on standby, such as your TV or microwave.

Scheduled convenience
Schedule your low risk appliances, such as light lamps, radios, microwaves, dehumidifiers and EV chargers, controlling them to switch ON or OFF at times of the day that suit your needs.
